Taiwan market: Pioneer to launch Blu-ray Disc player (Digi Times)

Pioneer showcased its new Blu-ray Disc (BD) player model, BDP-LX71, at the Taipei 3C Exhibition taking place on September 25-28 and the company will immediately launch the model in the Taiwan market at a recommended retail price of NT$39,900 (US$1,247), the Chinese-language newspaper Economic Daily New (EDN) quoted Pioneer High Fidelity Taiwan as saying.

September 26, 2008 – Bandai Entertainment Inc. announced today that it will release the Akira Blu-ray under the “Honneamise” label on February 24, 2009 for at the SRP of $49.98.

Sony To Lift Domestic Blu-ray Software Output Capacity By 50%-Nikkei (INO News)

TOKYO (Nikkei)–Sony Corp. (SNE) plans to bolster its Japanese production capacity for Blu-ray Disc software by 50% to 5.4 million discs a month by March 2010, the Nikkei reported in its Monday morning edition.
